A fabulous Irish 19th Century giltwood compartmental overmantle mirror. The finely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame of rectangular form is surmounted with an overhanging inverse breakfront pediment stepped cornice with applied sphere and lambs tongue motif detail. Raised above a beautifully decorated deep frieze depicting a stunning Neoclassical figural scene of Apollo, his entourage, winged heralds, soldiers and a chariot pulled by lions flanked with acanthus leaf motif detail. The three compartmental bevelled mirror glass plates below flanked with a pair of elegantly simple, fluted pilaster column carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base.
