A fabulous and unusual 19th Century overmantel mirror of exceptional quality, grand proportions and in excellent condition. The mirror glass plate of shaped rectangular form is set within a stunningly hand carved, moulded and fluted wooden frame with a beautifully hand painted distressed finish and panel detail. Surmounted with a pierced centred shield cartouche flanked with a pair of finials and corbels with fabulous bell husk, scroll, acanthus leaf and foliate motifs, finely carved in high relief. The shaped platform base with further gorgeous arrangements of pierced scrolling foliate motif detail to each side.
