A fabulous Edwardian polished brass log or coal box, fully restored and of exceptional quality. The hinged lift-up lid of serpentine form opens upwards to reveal a fitted storage section with removable liner and is decorated with beaded row detail and ornately embossed detail to the central reserve depicting a masque flanked with a gorgeous arrangement of scrolling foliate. The serpentine body with a stunning pierced panel of foliate and scroll detail is raised over a further arrangement of reeded scrolls, flowerheads and acanthus leaf motifs to each corner and is flanked with a pair of decorative loop carrying handles to the sides, supported on elegant tapering legs.
