A gorgeous 19th Century giltwood overmantle mirror of grand proportions and exceptional quality. The original mercury silvered mirror glass plate with slight foxing and a beautiful sparkle to the silvering is set within a finely hand carved, moulded giltwood frame of arch top form and stunning ribbon twist and beaded border detail. Surmounted with an intricately pierced cartouche composition of an arrangement of centred scallop shell flanked with scrolling acanthus leaves and trailing bell husks, all exquisitely carved in high relief. The shaped platform base with a further arrangement of scrolling acanthus leaf motif detail to the sides, labelled 'H.E. Spark, London' verso.
