An exceptionally fine 19th Century mahogany extending dining table of impressive proportions by Edwards & Sons, Newcastle, Staffordshire. The moulded double edged top of rectangular form with curved corners supported on stunningly carved ring turned tapering fluted legs with stippling detail, foliate and ball motif carved in high relief, terminating on beautiful large brass casters with beaded detail. This rare table is in exceptional condition and comprises of six original interchangeable extension leaves which can be used in any combination, an original winding mechanism with handle and a fifth central leg for added stability, labelled Edwards & Sons, Newcastle, Staffordshire, circa 1850.
