A very fine 19th Century giltwood overmantle mirror of large proportions. The mirror glass plate of rectangular form is set within a fabulously hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with elegantly simple s-scrolls, trailing foliate and flowerhead motif detail throughout. Surmounted with a gorgeous pierced centred crest composition comprising of centred cabochon, foliate, s and c - scrolls, flanked with scrolling acanthus leaves and feather detail, beautifully hand carved in high relief. The moulded base with a further arrangement of stylised scrolls and acanthus leaves to each corner.
