A very rare and fine Edwardian rosewood desk, finely carved and of fabulous quality, richly patinated and line inlaid and with exquisite marquetry panel detail depicting Neoclassical motifs of urns, scrolling foliate, flowerheads and ribboned swags throughout. The moulded top with a gorgeous arrangement of scrolling foliate and flowerhead detail to the central reserve is raised over a rise and fall mechanism which opens forwards to reveal the writing skiver surface fitted with gorgeous brown embossed tooled leather and an arrangement of compartments comprising of small drawers, inkwells, pigeon holes and letter racks. Supported on elegant, square tapering legs conjoined with concave undertier shelf surmounted with a 3/4 gallery rail, terminating on spade foot, stamped 'John Bagshaw & Sons, Liverpool'.
