A stunning 19th Century giltwood hall or overmantel mirror of exceptional quality. The mirror glass plate of rectangular form with a serpentine shaped top is set within a finely hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with fabulous arrangements of decorative ruffle, foliate and flowerhead motif detail wrapped around throughout. Surmounted with an intricately pierced centred crest composition of stylised shells, ruffles and foliate flanked with exquisitely detailed flowerheads, leaves, c-scrolls and trailing acanthus leaves to each side and to the base, all finely carved in high relief.
