A very fine 19th Century giltwood overmantel or hall mirror of large proportions and of exceptional quality. The mirror glass plate of rectangular form with a curved top is set within a stunningly hand carved moulded, fluted and reeded giltwood frame with gorgeous bands of beaded row, egg and dart motif detail throughout. Surmounted with a fabulous central cartouche composition of a cabochon with foliate, scrolls, ruffles, ribbons and beaded row detailing flanked with beautiful arrangements of trailing foliate, all exquisitely carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base.
