A stunning 19th Century finely hand carved giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and grand proportions. The mirror glass plate of shaped, rectangular form is set within a moulded and fluted giltwood frame with gorgeous bands of foliate motifs throughout and features beautifully decorative beaded row detail to the outermost border of the frame. The shaped top panelled top corner returns are exquistely decorated with arrangements of richly scrolling foliate and the frame features three fluted pilaster columns to the frieze and flanking the sides with ribbon, foliate and applied flowerhead paterae motifs. Surmounted with an ornate crest composition comprising of a centred stylised shell, c-scrolls and a fabulous bouquet of flower and leaves flanked with trailing foliate, all finely hand carved in high relief. Supported on shaped platform base with beautiful arrangements of applied flowerhead paterae, linen drapes, scrolls, foliate and beaded row motif detail to each panelled side.
