A stunning 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror of exceptional quality and neat proportions. The shaped mirror glass plate of archtop form is set within an elegantly simple and finely hand carved moulded and pierced giltwood frame with sphere and fluted detail throughout. Surmounted with a beautifully ornate, centred crest composition comprising of cabochon flanked with c-scrolls, trailing foliate and acanthus leaves, finely hand carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base with a further gorgeous arrangement of scrolling acanthus leaves to each side.
