A very fine 19th Century giltwood hall mirror of exceptional quality and grand proportions. The shaped and curved mirror glass plate or archtop form is set within a beautifully hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame adorned throughout with elegantly carved bands of beaded row and exquisitely detailed flowerhead motifs. Surmounted with an elaborate centred cartouche composition comprising of an arrangement of a stylised scallop shell, scrolls and foliate flanked with richly trailing acanthus motif detail, stunningly hand carved in high relief, supported on shaped platform base with further gorgeous arrangements of scrolling foliate to each side.
